48Franz Kafka is one of the most acclaimed and influential writers of the twentieth century. He is famous for his visionary and enigmatic stories that draw a grotesque vision of the world we live in. His nightmarishly complex, bizarre and impersonal stories are so unique that his name inspired an adjective - Kafkaesque.

His most famous works are novels The Trial (Der Prozess), The Castle (Das Schloss) and Amerika, and novella The Metamorphosis. Most of his works were published posthumously.
